Buckets load the spoil, hammers and grapples deal with rock and bulky pieces, and rippers loosen frozen or compacted ground first.
How it works
- 01
Enter bank volume or transfer a saved excavation quantity. Supply a loose-to-bank volume ratio for this material.
- 02
Enter bulk density on the loose-volume basis in tonnes per cubic metre. Record where that assumption came from in your project.
- 03
Supply usable body volume and permitted material payload. Leave an unknown blank; the dependent mass or load result remains unavailable.
Formula
Loose volume = bank volume × loose/bank ratio. Mass = loose volume × loose density.
Usable volume per load = min(body volume, material payload ÷ loose density). Loads = round up(loose volume ÷ usable load volume).
Load labelled example
3.2 m³ bank at an entered ratio of 1.25 becomes 4 m³ loose. At 1.5 t/m³ it weighs 6 t. A 2 m³ body with 2 t material payload is mass-limited: three indicative loads.
