S45 Quick Hitch — Compact Excavator Standard
S45 is the compact-excavator hitch standard, fitted to machines in the 6–12 tonne class — the bridge between mini-ex and midi-ex. Common S45 carriers include the Volvo ECR88, CAT 308, JCB 86C, Komatsu PC88, Kubota KX080, Hitachi ZX85, Liebherr A 910, and Doosan DX85. S45 uses a 45 mm pin with bracket centres sized for the slightly heavier compact class.
Attachments pinned to S45 are mid-weight, matched to the 6–12 tonne compact class. The compact class is the workhorse for landscaping, drainage, fence and signage work, small site preparation, and Nordic forestry support roles. Can I move S60 attachments to my S45 machine?
Not without re-pinning. S60 pins are 60 mm — too large for an S45 bracket. Our Saltsjö-Boo workshop can re-pin the bracket to S45 (typical turnaround 2–3 days, allow longer for heavy attachments). Contact us before moving attachments between machines.
What’s the smallest breaker that suits an S45 carrier?
For 6–12 tonne machines the S45-size hydraulic breaker is the recommended fit — sized for everyday demolition rather than continuous quarry work. As a rule of thumb a breaker should weigh roughly 7–14% of the carrier; ask our team to match a specific size to your machine’s hammer circuit.
