Choosing attachments for the Komatsu PC210LC
The Komatsu PC210 is a 21-tonne machine made for production, bulk handling, road and heavy loading where it comes down to cubic metres per day. Common jobs for the Komatsu PC210
The Komatsu PC210 is a production machine through and through. On Swedish jobs it runs bulk handling, road building and heavy loading where cubic metres per day is the measure of the day. At 21 tonnes it has the force to dig deep and load heavy shift after shift.
On a larger civil job the PC210 digs service trenches, rips up old ground and loads dumpers. On heavy ground it tears up the sub-base and gets through where a smaller machine gets stuck. It is a machine made for volume, and the attachments have to keep the pace.
For a machine worked this hard you choose attachments by durability. An attachment not rated for the 21-tonne class wears fast and becomes downtime you cannot afford mid-production.
Buckets and attachments that fit the PC210
For a 21-tonne machine you choose large digging buckets for excavation and a grading bucket for levelling. On deep trenches a toothed bucket is faster, on fine work a wide grading bucket. The bucket size is matched to the machine weight so the front does not get too heavy.
A sorting or demolition grapple belongs on the PC210 in demolition and material jobs. It loads and sorts spoil and pulls structures apart. At 21 tonnes the grapple sits steady even at full reach.
The attachments run on the S70 hitch, the standard for this class. With the same hitch on every attachment you build a set of buckets and grapples you swap quickly between tasks in production.
Hydraulic breaker and heavy attachments for the PC210
A 21-tonne machine drives a heavy hydraulic breaker, and it is the breaker that decides what the PC210 takes on in rock and concrete. The breaker must be rated for the machine weight and forces to hit at full effect and last over time.
Check the oil flow against the breaker spec before you buy. The PC210 has plenty of flow, but the breaker has to be matched to your machine hydraulics. A mismatched breaker hits sluggishly and wears both breaker and machine.
A ripper gets you through compacted ground and rock the breaker cannot manage. It tears up the ground ahead of the bucket, and at the PC210 weight it makes a real difference on heavy ground that otherwise slows the whole job.
S70 quick hitch and fit
The Komatsu PC210 runs an S70 hitch, the heavy coupler for large excavators. Check the attachment is listed for S70 before you order or it will not fit. The hitch is built for the forces a 21-tonne machine puts on attachments, so you do not cut corners on the rating here.
A tiltrotator works in this class and gives the bucket more movement on mixed jobs. On pure digging and loading where the machine does the same thing all day, it is often better to put the money into extra buckets and a good breaker.
