Common jobs for the Hitachi ZX225
The Hitachi ZX225 is a production machine for big Swedish sites. You find it on road, in bulk handling and demolition where it runs long shifts without giving up. At 22.5 tonnes it sits at the upper end of the large class and takes on the heaviest everyday jobs.
On a road job the ZX225 digs deep trenches, loads dumpers and rips up old sub-base. On demolition it takes concrete and rebar with the right attachment. The machine is made for volume, and the attachments need to handle the same hours as the machine.
For a machine with the ZX225 force you choose attachments by durability, not price. At these forces an undersized attachment is both a wear question and a safety question, so the rating has to match the machine weight.
Buckets and attachments that fit the ZX225
For a 22.5-tonne machine you choose large digging buckets for excavation and a wide grading bucket for levelling and slopes. A toothed bucket bites in hard ground, the grading bucket gives an even surface. Bucket size is matched to the machine weight so it can lift at full reach.
A sorting grapple turns the ZX225 into a strong demolition and material machine. It lifts stone, pulls apart and sorts spoil. At this weight the machine carries the grapple steadily well out, which makes it effective in demolition.
All attachments run on the S70 hitch, the standard for the large class. With the same hitch you build a set of digging buckets, grading buckets and grapples you swap quickly between tasks.
Hydraulic breaker and heavy attachments for the ZX225
A 22.5-tonne machine drives a heavy demolition breaker, and the breaker often decides what the ZX225 can manage in rock and concrete. It must be rated for the machine weight to hit at full force and last. A mismatched breaker is just wear.
Always match the breaker oil flow to the machine hydraulics before you buy. The ZX225 has the flow needed, but the breaker has to be set up against your machine to work right.
A ripper tears up compacted ground and rock ahead of the bucket. On a machine with the ZX225 weight it gets you through ground where the bucket otherwise just scrapes, and it saves time on heavy ground.

A tiltrotator fits this class and makes the machine more versatile near kerbs and slopes. On pure bulk handling where the machine digs and loads all day, the money often does more on extra buckets and a good breaker.
