How to compare hydraulic breakers for your excavator
The best hydraulic breaker for your job needs to work with the equipment actually installed on your machine. This guide explains what to compare. It is a retailer’s selection guide, not an independent performance test or a ranking of the whole market.

How we compare hydraulic breakers
Start with the task, exact machine generation and fitted coupler. Then compare documentation for the specific breaker models. We sell both AWA and GORE and have a commercial interest in these products. This guide is not based on our own comparative field test.
We do not use a general breaker-to-machine weight percentage. Installation weight, mounting, hydraulics and permitted use need to match the documentation for the exact combination. Missing or conflicting figures must be resolved before a model recommendation is made.
| Comparison | Evidence | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Hydraulics and settings | Breaker installation instructions and machine attachment circuit | That total pump flow is available at the attachment |
| Mounting | Drawings and identification of installed components | Fitment from an S-size or machine name alone |
| Installation weight | Weight and included components for the chosen configuration | Impact energy or productivity |
| Supplied equipment | Model, working tool, bracket, hoses and accessories | Identical equipment across a brand |
| Cost and terms | Current quotation or product page | Payback period or future resale value |
What does S40 tell you when choosing a breaker?
S40 identifies a mounting interface. It is not a breaker capacity rating. Two products can share an S designation while requiring different hydraulics and installation checks. Use the S40 guide, then compare the documentation for the exact breaker.
AWA or GORE?
Compare the two models you are considering for the same task and equivalent supplied equipment. AWA is the value range and GORE the premium range. AWA and GORE hydraulic breakers both have a 2-year warranty after registration, subject to product terms. This does not establish equivalent hardware or a better financial return from the more expensive model.
Weight is not impact energy
A weight in kilograms needs to say which components are included. It does not describe the energy of a blow. Impact energy and impact rate are separate specifications that need attributable sources and comparable measurement conditions.
What do we need before suggesting a model?
Send the machine model and generation, installed coupler details and photos, attachment-circuit hydraulic data and a description of the task and material. Add product codes if you already have breakers in mind. These let the exact requirements be checked without guessing from carrier weight.
Continue to the hydraulic breaker category for selection and current product details. For a replacement part, identify the breaker model, serial number and part number before ordering.
